Visitors are regarded as an important part of the patient’s day and are very welcome. Visiting arrangements are flexible and will be consistent with the nature of the patients’ illness and the needs of other patients.
The visiting hours in general are:
2.00 p.m. to 4.00 p.m. and 6.30 p.m. to 8.30 p.m.
For visiting outside these hours, in the case of critically ill patients or in exceptional circumstances, the agreement of the nurse manager on duty must be sought.
Recommended visiting duration is 20 minutes. Children under 12 years, apart from patients own children, should not be brought to visit.
Additional restrictions will apply from time to time e.g. during outbreaks of infectious diseases. In the interest of patient privacy, visitors are requested to refrain from visiting during meal times, quiet time (12.00 p.m. - 2.00 p.m.) and doctors ward rounds.
Our staff are committed to the protection of the patients’ privacy and so you will appreciate that the giving of information on the patients’ progress must be carefully controlled. Nurses or doctors, involved in your care will discuss with you which persons or person you wish to be kept informed about your progress or who should be contacted in the event of an emergency. Some families find it of benefit to appoint a spokesperson for the family/patient. Remember, while at all times our staff are prepared to help with enquiries, their primary role is the delivery of care to the patient. Unnecessary enquiries should be avoided.
